Description

The bottom includes the Montreux climb but continues for a longer climb to include the summit of Cougar Mtn. Better roads than the Zoo with less traffic and a tiny bit shorter (by .5 mile) with a bit more elevation gain overall (+40ft) . All made up by a breather on a short flat in the middle of the climb. Top section can be done a couple of ways...shown is the steepest. Trick is the "alley" that you use to connect the upper roads above Village Park Dr. to the road the Zoo is on, SE 60th. Worth checking out the entry/exit first next time you ride the upper part of the Zoo. The entry/exit onto SE 60th is just across from the parking lot and just feet north of the 90 degree corner, couple hundred feet south of the Zoo stop sign. Small sign on the "alley" blocked by inset pillars says "city/county vehicles only". 2.65 miles long...1460ft of climbing with a 1325 ft gain. Last little bit up past the stop sign is the same as the Zoo and is a private drive and ends at a steel gate just short of the water and radio Towers. Owner of the last house doesn't mind that we ride up to the gate.
